PARKS RECREATION AND FORESTRY

The Recreation Division provides a variety of year round recreation activities for children and adults. Programs such as summer playgrounds, special needs day camp, leagues and clinics. Recently added to the program selections are a wide range of outdoor and environmental education programs. The Recreation Department also offers many overnight and day trips as well as trips to the theater and museums.
The Forestry Division is responsible for the care and maintenance of the public shade trees along the streets of the City. Services include planting, pruning and when necessary, the removal of trees.
The Park Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of all City parks and playgrounds as well as the care and maintenance of school athletic fields. In addition, the Park Department personnel waters the 30 plus traffic islands after they have been planted by local businesses and organizations and also installs and maintains the hanging plants throughout the downtown area. The Park Division is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of Brooksby Farm and The Meadow of Peabody Golf Course.
